Soma Carisoprodol: A Relief in Muscle Pain
Soma Carisoprodolis a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking electrical communication among nerves in the reticular formation of the brain and in the spinal cord.
This medication relaxes muscles and lessens pain and distress caused by strains, sprains, spasms or other muscle injuries. Muscle relaxers are for specific muscle injury and pain and should not be used for general body aches and pains.
Dosage Instruction
For adults, the usual dosage of Somais one 350-milligram tablet, taken 3 times daily and at bedtime. It should not be used in children under 12 years of age.
Side Effects
Find emergency medical attention if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. It may lead to some serious side effects such as vision loss; or agitation, confusion; paralysis (loss of feeling); extreme weakness or lack of coordination; feeling light-headed, fainting; fast heartbeat; seizure (convulsions). Stop using Carisoprodol and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects. It may results in some less serious side effects such as: depression, feeling irritable; blurred vision; drowsiness, dizziness, tremor; headache; sleep problems (insomnia); or nausea, vomiting, hiccups, upset stomach.

Possible food and Drug Interactions
Soma Carisoprodol may exaggerate the effects of alcohol. Be cautious drinking alcoholic beverages while you are taking it. This medication may increase, decrease or alter the effects if used with certain other drugs. Talk to your doctor before using Soma with the other drugs such as: Antidepressant drugs known as tricyclics or MAO inhibitors, major tranquilizers and antipsychotic drugs such as haloperidol or other sedatives and tranquilizers such as alprazolam and triazolam.
Precautions
Before taking Carisoprodol, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to meprobamate, tybamate, or mebutamate; or if you have any other allergies. This drug can not be used by patients having acute intermittent porphyria.
This drug may cause drowsiness; caution must be taken engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving, swimming or using machinery. Don’t use alcoholic beverages.
Before using this tablets, notify your doctor your medical history, such as kidney problems, liver problems, history of regular alcohol/drug abuse, asthma, seizure disorder.
To decrease dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position.
This drug should not be used during pregnancy. It may rarely harm an unborn baby. Seek advice from your doctor for more details and to discuss reliable forms of birth control. If you become pregnant while taking this medication, acquaint with your doctor immediately.
This medication passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
